1. Purpose

Bastion Training Group LLC is committed to providing professional firearms training in a controlled, safe, and educational environment.

Firearms are inherently dangerous. Every student is expected to treat firearms and training activities with the highest level of responsibility.

Safety is a condition of participation, not a suggestion.

2. Fundamental Firearms Safety Rules

All students are required to follow the fundamental rules of firearms safety at all times:

Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
Never allow the muzzle to cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you are ready to fire.
Know your target, what is beyond it, and the surrounding environment.
If you drop equipment, do not attempt to catch it.
These rules apply during classroom instruction, dry practice, live-fire training, movement exercises, demonstrations, transitions, malfunction drills, and all other firearms-related activities.

3. Instructor Commands

Students must immediately comply with reasonable safety commands from the instructor or range staff.

Commands such as “Cease Fire,” “Stop,” “Unload,” “Holster,” “Muzzle Down,” or similar safety commands must be followed immediately.

When in doubt, stop what you are doing and seek clarification from the instructor.

4. Safe Firearm Handling

Students may only handle firearms when authorized or when required by the specific exercise.

Students shall not:

Handle firearms outside designated training areas without authorization.
Point a firearm at another person.
Intentionally violate muzzle discipline.
Place a finger on the trigger before being authorized to fire.
Load or unload a firearm contrary to instructor direction or range procedures.
Handle another student’s firearm without permission.
Conduct unauthorized dry-fire or live-fire exercises.
Manipulate firearms during periods when the range has been declared safe.
Engage in horseplay or reckless behavior involving firearms.
5. Ammunition and Equipment

Students are responsible for ensuring that their equipment is appropriate for the course and in safe working condition.

The instructor may inspect or prohibit the use of firearms, ammunition, holsters, magazines, or other equipment when there is a reasonable safety concern.

Students must use only ammunition and equipment approved for the course and/or training facility.

6. Safety Violations

Bastion Training Group LLC maintains a zero-tolerance approach to intentional or serious safety violations.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

Intentionally pointing a firearm at another person;
Intentional trigger contact when not authorized;
Unauthorized discharge;
Failure to immediately obey a cease-fire or other emergency safety command;
Reckless firearm manipulation;
Handling a firearm while another person is downrange;
Repeated failure to follow basic safety instructions;
Horseplay involving a firearm;
Unsafe conduct resulting from intoxication or impairment.
Depending upon the circumstances, a single serious safety violation may result in immediate removal from the course.

Repeated lesser violations may also result in removal.

7. Removal From Training

Bastion Training Group LLC reserves the right to remove any student from training at any time when the instructor determines that the student’s conduct presents an unacceptable safety risk.

A student removed for a safety violation will not receive a refund or training credit, regardless of when the removal occurs.

The instructor’s primary responsibility is the safety of the entire training group. A student may be removed even if the violation was unintentional when the circumstances create an unacceptable safety risk.

8. Instructor Discretion

Training environments can change rapidly. Not every possible safety concern can be anticipated in a written policy.

Instructors may establish additional safety procedures, modify exercises, suspend activities, or terminate an exercise whenever they determine that doing so is necessary for safety.

Students are required to follow those instructions.

9. Student Responsibility

Every student shares responsibility for maintaining a safe training environment.

Students are encouraged to immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or unsafe behavior to the instructor.

Students should never assume that an unsafe condition is acceptable simply because another person has not addressed it.

10. Acknowledgement

By participating in Bastion Training Group LLC firearms training, the student acknowledges that:

Firearms training involves inherent risks.
They are responsible for following all safety rules and instructor directions.
Safety violations may result in immediate removal from training.
Removal for a safety violation or unsafe conduct will result in no refund and no training credit.
The instructor has authority to stop an exercise or remove a participant when necessary to protect the safety of the class.
Failure to follow safety rules is grounds for removal from training without refund.
